The Young Marines Program is a National Youth Program open
to qualified candidates of both boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 17. It is the sole youth program which
boats to be the official anti-drug program of the United States Marine Corps. |

The mission of the Young Marines Program is to positively impact
America’s future by providing quality youth
development for both boys and girls that nurtures and develops its members into
responsible citizens who enjoy and promote a healthy, drug and criminal
gang-free lifestyle. |

The purpose of the JPSO Young Marines Program is to accomplish the mission and
objectives set forth the by National Program.
The objectives are as follows:

To promote the physical, moral and mental development of its members |
|
2. |
To advocate a healthy, drug and criminal gang-fee lifestyle through continual
drug prevention and gang resistance education |
|
|
3. |
To instill in its members the ideals of honesty, fairness, courage, respect,
loyalty, dependability, attention to duty, love of God and fidelity to our
country and its situations. |

4. |
To stimulate an interest in and respect for academic achievement and the history
and traditions of the United States of America. |
|
|
5. |
To promote physical fitness through the conduct of physical activities,
including participation in athletic events and close order drill. |

The health, welfare and safety of our Young Marines are always paramount.span
style="mso-spacerun:yes"> This is not a heavy-duty disciplinary
“boot-camp” style program; rather, it is merely designed to provide
participating youths with structure and self-esteem.
